Charles Krauthammer started his professional career as a medical doctor, specializing in psychiatry. He had an accident which paralyzed him, but still became a leader in his field. He then began a second career, working for the Carter Administration, which led to his becoming a speechwriter for the Democratic presidential nominee Walter Mondale. He is described as a "Scoop jackson Liberal" whose party left him. He is now considered one of the very top conservative political analysts in the United States.
